Tips For Playing Gambit In Destiny 2

In Destiny 2, Gambit is a mode that blends PvE and PvP into a competitive race to collect motes from defeated enemies, deposit enough of them into a Bank, and then defeat a final boss known as the Primeval. Fast Collecting And Banking Motes

The basic Gambit loop is pretty simple: kill dudes, get motes, bank motes, and repeat until your team gets 100 motes to summon the Primeval. As such, banking motes is a key part of that process, and it’s the one you’ll see people mess up the most. Because the longer you spend out gathering motes, the more at risk you are of being killed, either by Invaders or regular enemies. It’s easy to just run around, grabbing and banking Motes all willy-nilly. If you have gone for the full 15 motes, make sure you bank as soon as you can - you really don’t want a poorly timed Invader ruining your match.

Keep Your Bank Clear Of Blockers

Blockers and the strategy surrounding them are arguably the most interesting aspect of Gambit. If there is a Blocker in your world, then you can’t bank your Motes. Therefore, you must keep your Bank clear of them to ensure your team’s Bank is always open and your motes can flow freely, causing havoc for the other team by sending them Blockers. If you’ve just banked your motes and Blockers are coming in, don’t run away - try and fight off the Blockers as best you can until your teammates arrive to bank their own motes and can help you out.

Communicate With Your Team

If you want to do well at Gambit, you will have to communicate with your team. Ideally, that means playing with friends or clanmates, but it could also mean sucking it up and hopping into team chat if you’re playing with randoms. There are so many things you’ll want to be able to quickly call out—Mote count, Invader location, Primeval strategy—and the team that talks together wins together.

Know How To Read The Screen

The top of the screen in Gambit will always tell you how many motes your team has in play. It’s important to be aware of this, as it’ll keep you posted on when your invasion portal will become active and when your Primeval will be ready to spawn. You’ll also be able to see how many motes your teammates have. If you see that your friend has 13 motes and you only have eight, suggest letting them fill up to 15 first so they can drop a big Blocker on the enemy team.

Leveling Up Your Guardian

Power Leveling is one of the most important factors when it comes to success in Gambit mode. To achieve this goal, you should consider tweaking your class loadouts to optimize your damage output, such as ensuring you choose the right subclass for each character, depending on what mission or activity you’re doing. Or pay attention to which abilities will give you a better chance at survival during intense battles or provide an edge against challenging enemies. This will help improve your performance, increase the likelihood of success, and help you reach higher levels faster than ever!

Adapt Your Strategy Each Round

Gambit is round-based, and it runs on a best two out of three systems. That means you can fail once without losing the entire match. Like with any round-based game mode, you need to be ready to switch up your play between rounds. Move your weapons around if your loadout isn’t working, or simply adjust the way you bank your motes. If your enemy dumped three Ogres on you three minutes into round one, we suggest that you should prioritize throwing out level five blockers as frequently as possible and then try for a clutch invasion. Play It Safe

If you die in Gambit, you lose all of your motes. You don’t drop them, you don’t get them back if a teammate revives you, and they don’t show up in later attacks. If you lose them, they’re gone forever, and in a game mode as tight and competitive as Gambit, you can’t afford to lose any. So play it safe. For example, if you’re in the middle of a wave with enemies around you on all sides, it’s probably not a good idea to run picking up motes. Similarly, you don’t want to head into a fresh wave with 11 motes, hoping you can pick up a few more. Don’t get greedy, play things safe, and above all, Bank your motes.

Killing The Primeval

Once the Primeval spawns, a group of lieutenants will spawn with them. These creatures have large health pools, but the Primeval has some extreme damage resistance when they’re alive. Take a moment, focus through the chaos, and take out the lieutenants before you set your sights on the Primeval. Once all the lieutenants are down, the Primeval will melt quickly, making it harder for a clutch enemy invasion to set your progress back.
