7 New Details For Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be released on March 3, 2023. This game is set in 184 A.D. China at the end of the Late Han Dynasty, which players join a large-scale battle. And Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty offers a fantastical take on ancient history, embellishing well-known stories with demonic forces and mythical beings. While reviews so far are positive, there is some information players just have access to now that would have been even more useful before the game was released. Here are seven new things you need to know about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

1. Classes

Classes for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty determine the beginning stats of the player as well as the weapons they begin with. Players can choose one of the 5 Wo Long classes in Character Creation, which is based on a certain element and specializes in one aspect, like debuffs, stealth, attack, defense, and the like. Each of these classes also comes with a Beast that has powers associated with the element of the class. You can free to invest points in any of these stats to craft hybrid builds that excel in more than one aspect of combat.

Additionally, players will also have free rein to select what weapon they’d like to use from a wide collection of glaives, sabres, swords, and more. There’s also a detailed character customization system that you can use to adjust your character’s looks to your heart’s content.

2. Spirit Gauge

In this game, Spirit is what’s important. It’s represented by a bar sitting just underneath your character, below your health, and it’s a sliding scale. Some actions, like successfully hitting enemies, raise your Spirit, while others, like dodging, drain it. Should the Spirit bar move all the way to the negative side, you’ll temporarily be unable to act, rendering you defenseless for valuable seconds. When it’s positive, you can channel it into your attacks, doing more damage as a result.

Last but not least, you also have a couple of martial arts skills attached to each weapon – which also consumes Spirit. Then, the trick to success in Wo-Long is to manage your Spirit with care. You need to avoid expending too much of it in quick succession, and when the opportunity arises, employ it to bolster your attacks.

3. Morale System

Core to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s gameplay is its morale system, which indicates the strength of both your character and your opponents. By defeating enemies with a higher morale rank than your character, your own morale increases faster and more valuable items will be dropped.

However, taking on enemies with significantly higher morale ranks is no easy feat. While the game is linear and lacks an open world, this mechanic does give the player some say in their approach to the game. Do you try to skillfully take down large enemies for massive rewards or grind out Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Genuine Qi to level up and unlock new abilities?

4. Blocking and Parrying

Wo Long is built around combat. If you want to increase your chance of survival and get good, then you need to know how to block and parry enemy attacks.

Players can block incoming attacks using any of their equipped weapons at the cost of losing a great deal of stamina, leaving them vulnerable to critical attacks. Parrying, on the other hand, can help them get the upper hand on enemies by dealing a lot of stamina damage, allowing them to deal a critical hit. Critical attacks can’t be blocked like this and must be counter-attacked with precise timing through a different button combination.

5. Beasts

Some characters will seem familiar to Dynasty Warriors fans, but the game has different beasts. While you start the game with the beast that is associated with your class, you are free to change the equipped beast at a Battle Flag, which is basically the game’s checkpoints.

Players can use these Divine Beasts in two distinct ways: Summoning and Resonation. Summoning a Divine Beast will spawn the creature in front of the player and make them carry out some form of special attack. Resonation refers to when the player uses the power of a Divine Beast to imbue themselves or their weapon with a certain trait. Players can equip one Divine Beast at a time and the currently equipped beast can be switched for another one at any Battle Flag checkpoint throughout a mission, allowing you to tune your build and strategies to adapt to varying situations and enemy compositions.

6. Co-op And PvP

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty does include a co-op multiplayer mode. Players will have the option to invite their friends to join them in combating challenging opponents and monsters. After all, it will always be quite helpful to have a few additional players around to assist in clearing out the game’s most difficult opponents. A lot of presumably enjoyable multiplayer experiences are promised by the selection of four distinct modes players can use to access multiplayer.

While PvP can’t be accessed in the demo, developer Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will feature full support for the same – meaning players will be able to duke it out against one another using their favorite spells and weapons.

7. Weapons

Wo Long Weapons are the most prominent instruments used for fighting and are divided into three main categories of Melee Weapons, Ranged Weapons, and Thrown Weapons. Weapons are further categorized within each of these categories based on their type. Each Weapon type has its own set of moves and combos, Martial Arts skills and distinct fighting styles. Furthermore, Weapons have varying stats and properties that make them more effective in combat.

Players can equip two different weapons at a time and switch between them with relative ease. All in all, players will have many options and variety in how they engage with enemies.

This is 7 New Details You Need To Know About Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The game will be released on March 3, 2023, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
